Crowns
Believe it or not, crowns may be needed on your child’s primary teeth.
It’s important for children to maintain the structural integrity of their teeth. Our teeth do a lot for us and we take it for grant it. For instance, if a child is missing a tooth or experiencing pain on a specific side of their mouth, they will learn to chew their food differently throwing off the development of the muscles around their jaw. This needs to be corrected, especially if it’s due to dental decay. Bacteria can spread, infections can occur, and it will leave your child’s mouth needing attention. A crown or cap can stop the problem before it gets worse.
They are placed over top of a badly decaying or broken tooth. It’s used until that baby tooth is ready to fall out. In such cases, we try to preserve the tooth as much as possible and pulling it is usually our last option.
